Start the New Year off HOT with the area’s original Hot Yoga Studio, Yoga Body Shop. Yoga Body Shop was the first yoga studio to fill the void of Hot Yoga offerings throughout many Southern Tier communities, such as Binghamton, Vestal, and Johnson City. Now, as the new year is on the horizon, there is no better place to start Hot Yoga than with the area’s original Hot Yoga Studio.
What is Hot Yoga?
Hot Yoga is a form of Yoga performed under hot and humid conditions, resulting in considerable sweating. Yoga Body Shop is an innovative studio offering Hot Power Vinyasa Yoga. Our heated Vinyasa Yoga classes are a routine of yoga asanas and flowing movements incorporating the breath also known as a Vinyasa. We practice in a room heated to about 100 degrees. The breathing, poses and heat are designed to clear your mind, raise your heart rate and exercise your muscles.
What is the difference between traditional Yoga and Hot Yoga?
The main difference between regular and Hot Yoga is the room temperature at which they’re taught. Traditional Yoga is done under ordinary room temperature, while Hot Yoga is practiced under higher temperatures. Hot Yoga can also help you burn more calories than regular Yoga. Higher temperatures tell your body to work harder to bring down the heat, increasing your heart rate and metabolic activity. At this condition, your muscles become more flexible to hold a pose for an extended period. You breathe deeper also during Hot Yoga as you try to focus on the stretch and hold it as long as you can. The longer you keep these poses and breathe deeper, the better the circulation in your body. After every session, you will sweat, meaning your muscle activity and metabolism are enhanced.
What are the benefits of Hot Yoga?
- Increased Flexibility – It allows your body to soften until you’re able to bend much deeper. A 2013 ProMed study found that Hot Yoga participants had greater flexibility in their lower back, shoulders, and hamstrings after eight weeks than the control group.
- Stress Reduction – Hot Yoga allows you to focus on your breathing patterns because you must focus on your breathing to even stay in the room. These breathing exercises encourage you to concentrate and release tension, thus reducing stress in the process.
- Calorie Burner – According to research done at Colorado State University, calorie burn can be as high as 460 for men and 330 for women during a 90-minute yoga session.
- Good Sweat=Better Skin – Sweating eliminates toxins from your body and flushes your sweat pores clean. It also keeps your skin cells healthy and nourished. Sweating will improve circulation and bring oxygen and blood rich in nutrients to the skin cells.
